Kolumbáō
The film documents the artist's journey on a Greek peninsula, Evia Island. Unlike the romantic image of the island to the tourist - sandy beach, clear calm sea, sunset, abundant Marine life, tree shadows, during the dive, she discovered the industrial man-made objects left on the seabed, and a sense of fear strikes her.
In the film, you can hear her breathing in and out of the water, sometimes speeding up and sometimes stopping.
The "archives" came from the books she found in the homestay, where she was staying. The host was a local historian, and through their conversations, the artist learned about the "heritage history" of these artifacts. They came from one of the earliest local paper mills in Rovies, an era before public power, which made the town one of the earliest places to have private electricity and a port to communicate with the outside world. Later, the paper mill ceased production and was abandoned. Because of the floods that occurred on the island last year, a large amount of man-made debris was swept into the sea.
The whole film follows the artist's "dive", not only the depth and space transformation from the surface of the land to the interior of the ocean, but also the time link from the present to the past. It is an attempt to reunderstand "exploration" and "travel" and explore the entanglements between islands and industry.
